Accessibility for people with disabilities - WCAG standard
A FEW WORDS ON ACCESSIBILITY
WebAccessibility means that people with disabilities can use the internet. More specifically, it means that they can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact online.
The ability to use computer systems and electronic information by anyone is technically and legally guaranteed at international and national level*.
However, the ability to access the Internet also benefits people without disabilities (elderly people, people with disabilities, trauma, etc.). A key principle of accessibility is to design flexible software to meet the different needs, preferences and situations of users (design for all).
It is important that all disabilities affecting navigation are covered:
- Visual: Size & colour combinations adjustment, alternative text in place of images, speech translation.
- Auditory: Alternative text in place of audio files and videos.
- Physical: Navigation only from the keyboard or only from the mouse.
- Cognitive - cognitive: Clear & simplified layout of content.
By applying international technical standards, the "Eucleides" accessibility bar offers the above functions, thus providing people with disabilities with new navigational possibilities, meeting some of their complex needs.
